Sooner Nation wants Porter Moser gone now, not later

The Sooners have never made an NCAA Tournament in four years under Porter Moser.

It's clear, Sooner Nation does want another day of the Porter Moser era at Oklahoma.

The Sooners lost to a struggling LSU 82-79 on Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center. OU led by six at halftime and as many as 13 early in the second half. The Sooners were even in control in the final 30 seconds with a five-point lead.

But as has become routine under Moser, especially this season, the Sooners choked away a game late and never got a good look at the end when down two at home.

It was a game that should have been one of OU's easiest conference wins of the season. LSU entered the contest with only one SEC win and at 12-12 overall while on a seven-game losing streak.

Instead, it's the Sooners' losing streak that continued, now at four games. The first three were to ranked teams, icluding a pair of top-5 squads in the sam week, but even those were frustrating performances for Sooner Nation to witness.

OU's average margin of defeat in the first three games of its losing streak was 23.3. The Sooners, 0-6 against ranked SEC teams, have lost by an average of 17.8 points against such opponents. Only one ranked SEC team has beaten OU by less than double digits this season.

Those blowouts, now capped with an abysmal loss to LSU, should pop the Sooners' NCAA Tournament bubble. Unless OU accomplishes a miraculous turnaround with five more ranked teams ahead, it will be the fourth time in four years under Moser that OU misses the NCAA Tournament.

Sooner Nation has been exclaiming for Moser's job most of SEC play, but now with no postseason in the future, fans are wondering why even wait? Considering the Sooners are averaging a blowout against ranked teams, would it make a difference if Moser is or isn't leading OU during its next trip to play No. 3 Florida?

Sooner Nation does not want another game of the Porter Moser era.

For those wondering, Porter Moser's buyout would reportedly be about $6.5 million. But I'm not sure Sooner Nation cares what the price is to move on.
