For the first time since 2013, the Oklahoma women's basketball team is headed to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, and Sooner Nation made sure to relish in the sweet victory.

The 3-seed Sooners demolished the 6-seed Iowa Hawkeyes 96-62 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday at Lloyd Noble Center, which was full of fans, as well as teams and coaches from other sports, for the last basketball game of the season at the arena.

OU never really gave the Hawkeyes a chance. Iowa led 10-4 with 6:51 left in the first quarter, but then the Sooners put together a 10-0 run and never trailed again. They led 38-27 at the half and just kept pouring on more at home.

The Sooners earned hosting rights for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament after getting a top-4 seed. They took advantage of the home-court advantage with Monday's beatdown and also handling 14-seed Florida Gulf Coast 81-58 in the first round on Saturday.

Next, the Sooners will finally have to leave Norman and head to Spokane, Washington, for more Regional 4 action. OU will play the 2-seed UConn Huskies in its Sweet 16 matchup on Saturday. The winner of that will meet the victory of 1-seed USC against 5-seed Kansas State.

With history being made, Sooner Nation enjoyed the sweet moment and had lots of praise for OU coach Jennie Baranczyk before looking ahead to UConn.

Everyone took time out of practice and class to get to Lloyd Noble Center.
