While Sooner Nation celebrated the addition of quarterback Bowe Bentley, the LSU faithful and even a future player sulked about missing out on the future playmaker.
Bentley, a consensus top-10 2026 quarterback recruit, committed to the Oklahoma Sooners on Friday after narrowing his choices down between OU and LSU. Bentley had recently taken official visits to both schools and both fan bases had been waiting in anticipation for a decision ever since. For Sooner Nation, it was worth the wait, but for LSU fans, it was only devastation, especially since the Tigers will someday have to face Bentley on the gridiron.
Tristen Keys, who is committed to LSU as one of the top wide receivers in the 2026 class, represented LSU fans about missing out on Bentley.
“Noooo why not come throw to 3 Top 10 WRs," Keys commented on Instagram about Bentley's decision.

And Keys wasn't the only LSU fan torn up about the news.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Bentley is the No. 10 QB in the 2026 class and No. 14 overall prospect in the state of Texas out of Celina High School. On3 and 247Sports rank Bentley as the seventh-best 2026 QB and every recruiting outlet immedaitely listed Bentley as OU's highest-rated commit so far from the 2026 class.
Bentley had cut his choices down to OU and LSU after other offers from Georgia, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Florida State, Kansas State, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and more.
Keys is a consensus five-star recruit and no doubt would have been a go-to target for Bentley one day, but after OU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's job getting Bentley to Norman, there should be hope he's also able to surround his future QB with plenty of weapons, and Bentley also obviously has that faith.
And Bentley himself has already started helping with recruiting that talent.
