Quarterback Dillon Gabriel fit his entire college football journey on one helmet.
Gabriel and his helmet for the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday is the epitome of the transfer portal era. He transferred twice during his career to three different destinations and is including a logo from each team on his helmet for his final game before going pro.
Executive Director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, Jim Nagy, released pictures of Gabriel's helmet on Tuesday. The helmet includes the Oklahoma Sooners' interlocking crimson OU on one side, the Oregon Ducks' wings on the other and the UCF Knights' logo on the back with a gold strip going up the middle.
Here's another look at the helmet, including Gabriel wearing it.
Gabriel started his college career at UCF, where he spent three seasons as the starter other than the 2019 season opener and when an injury cut his third season short.
In 2021, Gabriel transferred to OU and was the Sooners' starting quarterback for two seasons. He was the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year after his first season with OU in 2022. He was First-Team All-Big 12 in 2023 after being second team the season before.
Then after a poor NFL Draft grade and Jackson Arnold looking to take the reigns at OU, Gabriel transferred to Oregon for his final collegiate season. His lone season as a Duck was the best of Gabriel's career.
Gabriel was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2024 and also named First-Team All-America, Big Ten Most Valuable Player, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Big Ten. He led the Ducks to an undefeated regular season with a Big Ten championship and earned the No. 1 seed in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
Gabriel's six-year college career ended with him as the FBS record holder for career TD passes (156), career TDs responsible for (190) and career points responsible for (1,136).
Last week, Gabriel also released a highlight video that referenced all three of his former schools.
