Oklahoma's thrilling walk-off Red River Rivalry win over the No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns got the dominoes tumbling in both directions, and the fallout from the weekend action resulted in major changes up and down the board in the Week 7 SEC Power Rankings.

Fourteen of the 16 SEC teams changed positions this week, not only as a result of the Sooners' stunning upset at the top of the chain, but also several other surprising outcomes in conference games over the weekend. This is the kind of thing that is likely to occur on a weekly basis in a conference replete with as many quality teams as the SEC.

Missouri, a 27-6 winner over Texas A&M, was the biggest upward mover from last week, advancing four spots to No. 3, while Oklahoma and South Carolina, which rolled to a surprising 38-19 victory over Florida, both advanced three spots.

The big losers this week were Texas, Florida, and LSU, each falling four spots from a week ago. For the second weekend in a row, Kentucky, now 5-1, converted a two-point conversion attempt in overtime to pull a 35-34 victory out of a rabbit's hat. A week ago, South Carolina was the victim. On Saturday, it was LSU.

There are three more SEC top-25 matchups on tap this Saturday: No. 6 Alabama visits No. 14 Tennessee, No. 13 Missouri is at No. 9 Ole Miss, and No. 16 Mississippi State comes off a bye week to play at No. 22 LSU.

Here are the Week 7 SEC Power Rankings with advancements (+), declines (-), and no change (--) indicated next to the season record for each team.

Week 7 SEC Football Power Rankings

Georgia replaced Texas at No. 1 in this week's power rankings with an exciting 20-17 road win over Alabama. The Bulldogs not only leaped over Texas for the top spot in the SEC, but nationally as well, ascending to No. 1 in both the Associated Press Top 25 and in the Coaches Poll.

It was the defending SEC champion's first win over a ranked team this season, and they won't face another one until potentially the first weekend in November (at Ole Miss), so they may stay settled in for a while.

Alabama was in a position to win the game against Georgia over the weekend, but just wasn't able to finish it off. It was the Crimson Tide's first loss of the season, which already includes blowout wins over Kentucky, Florida State, South Carolina, and Mississippi State.

Given the Texas loss to Oklahoma and the way the Crimson Tide was able to battle Georgia, Alabama was able to advance one spot in the power rankings this week, despite the 20-17 loss.

Missouri has been on an absolute terror offensively the past two weeks. A week ago, the Tigers destroyed a Florida team that had rolled over Ole Miss the week before. Over the weekend, the Tigers hosted Texas A&M and literally ran all over the Aggies. Mizzou running back Jamal Roberts rambled for 222 yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns, while defensively, the Tigers completely shut down the A&M offense in a 27-6 Missouri victory.

The Tigers will have little time to rest on their laurels, though, because a trip to Oxford, Mississippi, to play No. 9 Ole Miss beckons this weekend.

Ole Miss came out of the bye week and the lingering memory of a painful 52-28 dismantling at Florida, taking it all out on Vanderbilt over the weekend in a 52-17 blowout of its own. The Rebels entertain the Missouri Tigers this weekend in a showdown of the Nos. 3 and 4 teams in this week's power rankings.

Texas tumbled to the No. 5 spot in this week's power rankings after falling to chief rival Oklahoma at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday. That loss knocked the Longhorns out of the top spot nationally, as well as in the SEC.

This week, Texas is back at home to take on Florida, a team, like the Sooners, that had high preseason expectations but has struggled mightily the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately for Florida, the Gators are going to face an angry group of Longhorns at home and determined to set things right.

Tennessee defeated cellar-dwelling Arkansas over the weekend, but didn't look all that great in doing so. As a result, the Volunteers dropped back a spot despite gaining their fifth win of the season. The degree of difficulty ramps up considerably this week as Alabama, No. 6 nationally, visits Knoxville

After losing to Alabama 41-17 on the second weekend of the season, No. 15 Kentucky has strung together four consecutive wins, including back-to-back wins in overtime, each with successful two-point conversions.

The Wildcats take that momentum to Norman this week to take on a Sooner team that also has some momentum in its favor after knocking off the country's top-ranked team. Oklahoma will be the best defensive team Kentucky has faced this season.

LSU was one of the big downward movers this week after suffering a 35-34 loss to Kentucky in overtime. It was the Tigers' second conference loss of the season under new head coach Lane Kiffin.

LSU will be seeking redemption this weekend when it hosts No. 16 Mississippi State. LSU has won eight of the last 10 meetings vs. Mississippi State when the game was played in Baton Rouge. LSU was ranked as high as No. 7 this season in the AP Top 25, but is currently at No. 22.

Oklahoma is starting to claw its way back upward in the conference power rankings, moving ahead three spots after its improbable 27-24 last-second win over No. 1 Texas. The Sooners are back up to No. 9 after falling to No. 13 after their 41-13 loss to Georgia two weeks ago.

Oklahoma will have the opportunity to knock off another top-25 SEC opponent this weekend, when No. 15 Kentucky comes calling at the place Sooner fans like to call the Palace on the Prairie.

Mississippi State is back in action this week after sitting out last week to recover from a 56-23 blowout at home at the hands of Alabama. That was the Bulldogs' only loss of the season.

This week, they travel to Death Valley at LSU, where an angry bunch of Tigers will be waiting, anxious and determined to avenge the loss to Kentucky this past weekend.

South Carolina is coming off its biggest win of the season, a 38-19 rout over Florida. It was an impressive win regardless, but the fact it was at The Swamp in Gainesville makes it all the more special.

The Gamecocks have come close to a couple more wins over conference opponents this season, losing 41-34 to Mississippi State and 35-34 to Kentucky in overtime this past weekend. South Carolina is idle this week before lining up against Tennessee at home the following weekend.

Two weeks ago, Florida was No. 4 in the SEC Power Rankings and No. 8 in the country after pummeling then 4th-ranked Ole Miss 52-28. Since then, however, the wheels have come off the Gator bus, and Florida has lost back-to-back games and in embarrassing fashion: 45-17 to Missouri and 38-19 to South Carolina.

Their freefall has landed the Gators at No. 12 in the conference power rankings this week. And look what's straight ahead on the schedule: at former No. 1 Texas this weekend, followed by the annual rivalry game with current No. 1 Georgia in two weeks. Oh, and then Oklahoma pays a visit to the Gators on Nov. 7.

Texas A&M is another SEC team that came into the 2026 season with high expectations. The Aggies were projected to finish 4th in the conference preseason media poll. Their offense has been stuck in neutral the past three weeks, losing 31-21 at home to Kentucky, 35-6 to LSU, and 27-6 to Missouri over the weekend.

Some short-term relief may be in sight, however. The struggling Aggies host The Citadel this weekend, a 2-4 team out of the FCS. That will serve as a tune-up ahead of an Oct. 24 trip to Alabama.

Auburn last played on Oct. 3, a 24-14 loss at Tennessee. The Tigers take to the road again this weekend with a date on Saturday at newly anointed No. 1 Georgia. Auburn's lone conference win is a 21-15 home win against Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt and Arkansas are the only two SEC teams whose position in the power rankings did not change from last week. Both teams lost for the third straight time in conference play over the weekend. The Commodores' setback was a 52-17 thrashing at home to Ole Miss. Something is going to give this weekend, as Vanderbilt hosts Arkansas, with one team assured of its first SEC win of the season.

Arkansas played visiting Tennessee much closer than expected on Saturday before falling 24-17. The Razorbacks led 14-10 entering the fourth quarter, but Tennessee outscored the Hogs 14-3 over the final 15 minutes to finish off the game.

This weekend, the battle for last place will take place with Arkansas visiting Vanderbilt, and both teams looking for their first conference win. If the Razorbacks can pull off the road win in Nashville, a Halloween weekend encounter at Missouri awaits.
