The SEC is projected to have 12 teams make the NCAA Tournament, at least according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology.
Those 12 teams include some guarantees, bubble teams and the top overall seed in the Auburn Tigers. Outside of the 12 teams predicted to go dancing are two more SEC teams just on the outside with the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns listed as two of the first four teams out of the field of 68.
With one week left in the regular season before March Madness tips off with the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament next week, here's a look at each SEC team's chances of making the NCAA Tournament, from those with no chance, to those already locked in.
No way
LSU (14-15), South Carolina (12-17)
Barring a miracle championship run in next week's SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, there's no way South Carolina and LSU even sniff the NCAA Tournament. However, for a conference with 16 teams to have just two in this position with one week left shows you how stacked and respected the SEC is this season.
Need a miracle
Oklahoma (17-12), Texas (16-13)
It would take more of a miracle for Oklahoma to get in than Texas considering OU coach Porter Moser has never beaten the Longhorns in his fourth season in charge.
Texas plays No. 25 Mississippi State on Tuesday while OU hosts No. 15 Missouri on Wednesday before the Red River Rivalry on Saturday in Austin. Both are expected to lose their midweek games, so the regular-season finale is basically a play-in game to stay alive, and even that might not be enough for the winner.
OU already lost to Texas earlier this season in Norman, so the Longhorns are in a slightly better position, even at 16-13 compared to the Sooners' 17-12 overall record. However, OU is 4-12 in SEC play, while Texas is 5-11, with the last Red River Rivalry being the difference so far.
Just don't mess it up
Arkansas (17-12), Georgia (18-11)
Arkansas is one of the last four teams in, while Georgia is one of the last teams to get a bye.
The Razorbacks already almost messed up their chances to go dancing on Saturday with a blowout 72-53 loss to South Carolina, which had only one conference win before. Arkansas' final week includes Vanderbilt and No. 25 Mississippi State. Even just splitting those two contests while avoiding another blowout should have Arkansas dancing no matter how the SEC tournament goes.
Georgia is more comfortable, especially with unranked South Carolina and Vanderbilt ahead. Even a loss to lowly South Carolina shouldn't knock the Bulldogs out considering it didn't Arkansas, but an 0-2 week against unranked teams would definitely have Georgia sweating heading into March Madness and needing to do a little something in the SEC tournament.
Locked in
Auburn (27-2), Florida (25-4), Alabama (23-6), Tennessee (24-5), Missouri (21-8), Texas A&M (20-9), Ole Miss (20-9), Kentucky (19-10), Mississippi State (20-9), Vanderbilt (20-9)
With one week left in the regular season, the SEC has 10 teams that could essentially sit out until the NCAA Tournament and still get to dance. At least two more teams will likely join these 10 in the NCAA Tournament, it's just a matter of if it will be Arkansas and Georgia, or will one of them slip enough to cough up their spot to Oklahoma or Texas. And there's also always Option B, where the SEC sends 13 teams dancing with the loser of the Red River Rivalry watching from home.
