The preseason AP Top 25 was revealed on Monday, and the Oklahoma Sooners were actually included in this set of preseason rankings.
After being left completely out of the top 25 of the preseason coaches poll, media voted the Sooners at No. 18 in the preseason AP Top 25.

Oklahoma inside top 20 of preseason AP Top 25
The Sooners were one of 10 SEC teams included in the top 25, plus Missouri and Auburn receiving votes. And six of those preseason top-25 SEC teams are on OU's 2025 schedule, as are Auburn and Missouri, too. With Michigan coming in at No. 14, the Sooners have seven preseason top-25 teams on their slate ahead and five are inside the top 15.
OU's 2025 scheduled being loaded down with ranked teams isn't a new storyline, though. Honestly, the Sooners even being included in the preseason AP Top 25 wouldn't have been a surprise if not for last week's preseason coaches poll that had OU as the last team out while receiving votes.
Media all offseason has shown belief in the Sooners' turnaround and had them included in nearly every top-25 projection. That preseason coaches poll now seems to be the outlier. For whatever reason, college football coaches around the country do not have faith in Brent Venables righting the ship. Only time will tell, though, if those coaches are smarter than the media or just flat out aren't paying attention to the Sooners.
