Top 5 three-star recruits in Oklahoma football history
By Brandon Self
Recruiting services have been in existence for over twenty years. The big three recruiting services (On3, Rivals, and 247 Sports) make their money rating and ranking high school football recruits. Hours of film study, offer evaluation, and scouting go into evaluating a recruit and most of the time the ratings are accurate.
Over the last twenty years, approximately 75-percent of five-star-rated recruits across the country have eventually made an NFL roster following their collegiate career. Five-star recruits boost recruiting rankings, build your talent pool, and help recruit other 5-star guys to join the team. Everybody loves the 5-stars for good reason.
Everybody loves an underdog, too. Now, 3-star recruits are still legitimate Division 1 college prospects. Heck, I was a lowly 2-star recruit and I everntually started on a D-1 team. Work ethic and attitude are the primary sources that transition a freshman prospect into a division one starter, not the stars. It disapoints me when I read a message board (which is way too fun to ignore) and hear fans being upset with three-star recruits being offered, committed, or signed.
So, this got me thinking. Who are some of OU's best three-star recruits? Heck, who are the top 5? Thinking of Oklahoma football history is fun but Thinking of Oklahoma football history is fun, but it's way more fun when you get a top-5 or top-10 list together. So, without further adieu, here are the top five three-star recruits in Oklahoma football history.
