The new college football preview magazines have hit the newsstands, and for the first time in seemingly forever, Oklahoma's football prospects for the coming season are no longer prominently featured as part of the Big 12 Conference.

The Sooners won't officially become part of the Southeastern Conference for a few more days -- 22 to be exact -- but they are already displaying SEC uniform patches, Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will shortly be adorned with the SEC logo and OU's SEC schedule has been out for several months now.

In April we learned that Oklahoma's 2024 season opener, at home against Temple, had moved moved from Saturday, Aug. 31, to a day earlier, Friday the 30th. That contest is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.

The times have now been set for the second game of the season, on Sept 7 against Houston, the Sept. 14 game vs. Tulane, as well as the annual Red River Rivalry game with Texas. The OU-Houston game will be a 6:45 start, again in Norman, and will be televised on the SEC Network. The Tulane game will be a 2:30 start and will be on ESPN or ESPN2.

The Oklahoma-Texas game on the second weekend in October (Oct. 12), will get a reprieve this season as the newest members of the Big 12. Instead of being scheduled in the 11 a.m. time window, which has been the case in 12 of the previous 13 seasons, the Sooners and Longhorns will play this coming season in the 2:30 p.m. window. The game will air either on ABC or ESPN.

Television times for the eight SEC conference games will be revealed for all of the SEC teams on Tuesday this week.
