Sooners tumble six spots in AP rankings following loss to No. 6 Tennessee

Oklahoma took a predictable tumble in the national rankings after a disappointing 25-15 loss to No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday.

The dropped down six spots, to No. 21 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 and five spots, from 13 to 18, in the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile, Tennessee moved up one spot, to No. 5 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the Coaches Poll.

The top four teams in both polls remained unchanged. Texas holds the top spot in the AP rankings, with Georgia sitting a top the field in the Coaches Poll. The next two teams in both polls are Ohio State and Alabama.

The Sooners (3-1) are one of nine SEC ranked teams this week. Texas (1/2), Georgia(2/1), Alabama (4/4), Tennessee (5/6), Ole Miss and Missouri (11/11) rank in the top 11 in both polls (AP/Coaches Poll rankings are reflected in the parentheses). Texas A&M holds down the No. 24 spot in both polls this week.

The SEC's nine ranked teams leads all conferences. The Big Ten is next with six teams ranked in the top 25, five out of the Big 12 and three from the ACC.

Kansas State's 39-9 drubbing on the road at BYU on Saturday night, earned K-State the distinction of being the biggest mover of the week, falling 10 spots in the AP rankings (from 13 to 23) and 11 spots in the Coaches Poll (from 14 to 25). Michigan was the biggest upward mover. climbing six positions in the Week 5 AP rankings and five spots in the vote of the coaches, to No. 12 in both polls.
