Oklahoma linebacker Kip Lewis made the play of the game and of his career when he intercepted a pass against Auburn on Saturday and returned it for what turned out to be a game-winning Sooner touchdown.

The redshirt sophomore picked off the pass by Auburn quarterback Payton Thorne at the Oklahoma 37-yard line and took it to the house, giving Oklahoma a 22-21 lead with just 4:06 remaining in the game.

On Monday, Lewis was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the games of Sept. 30.

The Sooners completed a two-point conversion following Lewis' touchdown interception return as quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. dove head over heels into the end zone to complete the two-point play.

The interception was the first in Lewis' career and the fourth longest returned for a touchdown by a linebacker in OU football history.

Lewis finished the game at Auburn with five tackles (four of them unassisted) and a tackle for loss. For the season, the Sooner linebacker has been credited with 21 tackles, fourth most on the team. A dozen of those tackles have come in the past two weeks against Tennessee and Auburn.

Oklahoma has a bye week this week and does not return to action until Oct. 12, when the Sooners will go up against their archrivals the Texas Longhorns in the annual Red River Rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Texas will probably be ranked No. 1 of 2 in the national rankings, depending on which weekly poll you follow.
