Oklahoma men's head coach Porter Moser has been as hot as the summer heat in late July, earning verbal commitments from three commitments for 2024-25 in the last four days.

On Tuesday, Alec Blair, a 6-foot, 6-inch forward pledged to play for the Sooners as the first commitment in OU's 2025 class.

Blair, who hails from Concord in Northern California, is a unique recruit. He is ranked as the No. 7 small forward, the No. 4 player from the state of California and the No. 39 player nationally, according to 247Sports, and is also a star baseball player. Some experts project Blair as a potential high draft pick in the 2025 Major League Draft. He intends to play both sports at Oklahoma.

The dual-sport star chose Oklahoma over offers from Texas A&M, Oregon, USC, Cal and Clemson.

"Ultimately, it came down to the fact that they were willing to play both baseball and basketball in college and in the SEC," Blair told 247Sports. "I feel that both coaching staffs are on board with this, and they truly want me to succeed in both."

Heisman Trophy winning quarter Kyler Murray played football and basketball for the Sooners. Murray is the most recent OU student-athlete to play two sports and excel at both. Those two seasons didn't overlap, however, like basketball and baseball.

In the past three days, Oklahoma has picked up basketball commitments from Jeremiah Fears, one of the top combo guards in the 2025 class and Glenn Taylor Jr. (2024). a 6-foot, 6-inch forward, who is transferring from St. John's, in addition to the commitment from Blair. Fears says, however, he plans to reclassify to 2024 and join the Sooners for the coming season

Blair averaged 18 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from the field as a junior at De La Salle High School in Concord. On the baseball diamond, he carried a .565 batting average as a centerfielder.
