Sooners complete 2024-25 active roster with addition of St. John's transfer

A day after losing transfer Jeff Nwankwo for the season due to injury, Oklahoma picked up the commitment of former St. John's forward Glenn Taylor Jr. for the coming season.

When the Sooners learned that the 6-foot, 6-inch Nwankwo would miss the entire 2024-25 season with a torn ACL, they waisted little time in procuring Taylor's commitment to replace Nwankwo and fill out the roster for next season. Head coach Porter Moser did say, however, that Nwankwo's scholarship would continue to be honored during the time that he was out.

Taylor averaged 4.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game last season at St. John's. He played in 33 games for the Red Storm and started in 21. Before transferring to St. John's Taylor spent two seasons at Oregon State. He averaged 11.6 points and nearly four rebounds per game his sophomore season (2022-23) playing for the Beavers.

The Las Vegas native actually committed in May of this year to play his senior season at Grand Canyon in Arizona but backed off of that commitment in early June.

Taylor's commitment to Oklahoma also comes a day after Jeremiah Fears committed to the Sooners. Fears is rated as one of the top combo point guard prospects in the country. He was originally a 2025 prospect but says he is going to reclassify to the 2024 class, which means he will be available to play for OU in the 2024-25 season.

The Sooners only return two starters and lose five of the top six scorers from last season's team (F Sam Godwin and F Jalon Moore). Moser picked up the 6-foot, 6-inch Nwankwo from the transfer portal to add height and length to the OU frontcourt. Taylor is also 6-foot-6, so the Sooners were quickly able to backfill that need.
