Oklahoma filled its final available softball roster spot for next season with the addition of former University of Louisiana pitcher Sam Landry.

The right-handed pitcher becomes the fifth player added from the transfer portal by Sooner head coach Patty Gasso since OU claimed its fourth consecutive national championship last month.

Sooner fans were hoping that final roster spot would go to another transfer pitching candidate, NiJaree Canady, not only the best pitcher available in the portal but the best pitcher in college softball this past season and the 2024 National Player of the Year. That can still happen, but Oklahoma will have to come up with some creative roster management for that to be realized

Landry earned All-Sun Belt First-Team honors this season and has one year of eligibility remaining. She had a 24-10 record this past season with a 2.09 earned run average, 165 strikeouts and 65 walks in close to 200 innings. For her career, she has compiled a 63-19 record and a 2.12 ERA

The former Ragin' Cajun joins transfer portal additions Ailana Agbayani, an infielder from BYU; outfielder Abby Dayton from Utah; catcher Isabela Emerling from North Carolina, and pitcher Isabella Smith from Campbell as new members of the team for next season.

The Oklahoma pitching staff for 2025 includes transfers Landry and Smith, who will join returning starter Kierston Deal along with former Wisconsin transfer Paytn Monticelli and incoming freshman Audrey Lowry, one of the best pitching prospects in the 2024 class nationally.
