Oklahoma Sooners Fall camp update: Team rounds into form as season nears
By Brandon Self
As the Oklahoma Sooners wrap up their fall camp, the team is steadily rounding into form, right on schedule. The focus is shifting toward game preparation, and the excitement is palpable as the season opener draws closer.
The defense has been a major point of attention, a welcome change from past seasons at OU. Under head coach Brent Venables, the Sooners are building a reputation for defensive strength, something that has fans and analysts alike taking notice.
And for those wondering about a quarterback controversy, Venables put that to rest quickly on Tuesday. When asked about freshman quarterback Jackson Arnold, Venables made it clear that there’s no controversy to speak of, allowing the team to focus on more pressing matters.
With three weeks of camp and two scrimmages under their belt, the Sooners have learned a lot about what Team 130 is capable of. The final scrimmage of camp was a lighter affair, with some key players being held out to ensure their health for the season. The team is nearing the point where they’re checking off boxes and answering the last remaining questions.
Next week, while technically still part of fall camp, will see a shift in focus. The practices are expected to be less physical as the team transitions into full game prep mode. A light practice on Saturday will include alumni in attendance, a tradition that adds to the sense of anticipation as the Sooners gear up for the season ahead.
