For the third consecutive week, an Oklahoma softball player has received Big 12 honors.

Sooner utility player Alynah Torres is the Big 12 Player of the Week for March 18 -24.

The OU senior and former transfer from Arizona State had an outstanding week at the plate in leading the Sooners to a weekend sweep of Baylor and four wins for the week. Torres collected five hits in eight official plate appearances, a .625 batting average for the week. Included in that production were four home runs in four games, 10 runs batted in and four runs scored. She reached base in eight of her total 10 plate appearances.

Torres also demonstrated her versatility and value in the field, handling 14 field chances without an error while playing three different positions during the week: first base, second base and right field.

Through 32 games this season, including 21 starts, Torres is hitting .417, one of seven Sooners hitting over .400. The OU senior also has hit six home runs, driven in 20 runs and owns a slugging percentage of .767. She has reached base in 18 of her last 19 games.

This is Torres' first Big 12 weekly honor and is the third straight week an Oklahoma player has been named Player of the Week in three consecutive weeks. It is also the 109th Oklahoma player to be so honored in head coach Patty Gasso's 30 seasons at the helm.

Torres shares Big 12 weekly honors this week with Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan.
