Oklahoma's 2025 recruiting class ranks among best in SEC and the country

Oklahoma's 2025 recruiting class is shaping up as the best of the three Sooner cycles he has been a part of as head coach, and it comes at a perfect time with OU about to officially join the SEC.
Although the prospects in the 2025 class will not see there first collegiate action until the 2025 season, there is little question that Oklahoma's move to the SEC has helped strengthen its recruiting effort as well as its nationwide reach. The Sooners' history and championship pedigree has allowed them to recruit well nationally for the better part of the past 70 years, but now as a team bound for the SEC, they have an even stronger recruiting influence.
There is still a good five-plus months before the early signing period, when most of the 2025 class will be pretty well locked down, that Oklahoma won't deliver a fourth consecutive top-10 class, and it is not out of reach that it could be as high as top five, given that OU is still in the running for a number of four- and five-star prospects.
Currently, Oklahoma ranks No. 5 in the 2025 247Sports national class rankings. That puts them third among SEC teams behind only Alabama and Georgia, ranked Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. The Sooners' 2025 class is No. 6 in the Rivals team rankings, still trailing just Alabama and Georgia among SEC teams.
A number of OU's 2024 class will see the field this coming season, including five-star defensive lineman David Stone. That class finished No. 8 in the 247Sports national team rankings (behind Georgia, Alabama, Texas and LSU among current and future SEC teams) and No. 7, according to Rivals (trailing Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Auburn).
With the players OU has returning in 2024 along with the incoming freshman class and several highly touted transfer additions -- notably Michigan WR transfer Deion Burks and former TCU DL Damonic Williams -- the Sooners will begin their SEC era of football with a solid foundation to build up in future years.
