Fall training camp has begun for the 2024 and now SEC edition of Oklahoma Sooners football. While the immediate attention now turns to physical and mental preparation for the 2024 season, just 29 days away, OU head coach Brent Venables is also keeping a close eye on the future and filling out the 2025 recruiting class.

The Sooners currently have 22 verbal commitments in the 2025 class, which ranks No. 7, according to Rivals, and No. 9 in both the ESPN and 247Sports team rankings. Oklahoma may be close to finishing off its 2025 class but still has several top targets in its recruiting crosshairs.

Oklahoma is heavily pursuing two five-star offensive tackles, a five-star safety a four-star linebacker and a four-star athlete as part of the 2025 recruiting cycle.

The two tackles are Michael Fasusi, out of Lewisville, Texas, and Andrew Babalola, from the Greater Kansas City area. The five-star safety is Jonah Williams, out of Galveston, Texas, and the four-star linebacker is Christian Jones, from Omaha, Nebraska.

OU is also highly interesting in four-star athlete Brandon Arrington, who hails from Spring Valley, California, near San Diego.

At one time, the Sooners were the ones favored to land a commitment from Williams, but it appears now that Texas A&M has taken over the lead in the recruitment of Williams, with Texas and Oregon also among his finalists.

Of the five top targets OU is still pursuing, the Sooners may have the best shot at landing Fasusi. John Williams of Sooners Wire, an Oklahoma-dedicated website affiliated with the USA Today network, wrote recently that Fasusi had all the skills to be an elite offensive tackle at both the collegiate and NFL levels.

"He (Fasusi) certainly looks the part," Williams wrote in a recent article. "He stands 6-6, 295 pounds with an 83-inch wing span, creating an unparalleled length and agility combination."

The Sooners still must battle with both Texas and Texas A&M to earn Fasusi's commitment, but the North Texas native has made several visits to Norman and reportedly called offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh the GOAT.

247Sports ranks Fasusi as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 12 player nationally. He is set to announce his commitment choice on Aug. 21.

Babalola is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Kansas by 247Sports. Stanford is considered the favorite to land the four-star offensive tackle, although he has Missouri, Michigan and OU also in the mix.

Nebraska and Oklahoma appear to be the prime suitors for the LB Jones at this point. The fact that he is from Omaha may weigh in the Cornhuskers favor.

Arrington, the athlete, is a bit of a wild card as this point. USC and San Diego State are pursuing the San Diego are prospect hard but Oklahoma also appears to have a good shot as does Nebraska.
