With no major upsets among the top 25 teams nationally over the weekend, there was little movement in either of the major national polls with Oklahoma remaining at 15 and 13, respectively, in the Associated Press voting as well as in the Coaches Poll.
The Sooners, who improved to 3-0 over the weekend with a 34-19 win over Tulane, have remained in that position for each of the past three weeks. Oklahoma begins its killer SEC schedule this coming Saturday, hosting No. 6/7 Tennessee.
Nine SEC teams are ranked among the top 25 this week, the most of any conference. Six of the top seven teams in the AP Top 25 and six of the top eight in the Coaches Poll are teams out of the SEC. Oklahoma will play five of those six SEC teams over the course of the 2024 season.
With 35 first-place votes, Texas jumped over Georgia into the No. 1 spot in the AP poll. Georgia remained No. 1 in the Coaches Poll.
Texas A&M moved back into the top 25 in both major polls, at No. 25 in the AP poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll. The Aggies began the season No. 20 in both polls but fell out after a season-opening loss to Notre Dame.
LSU is the only SEC team other than Texas A&M that is ranked lower than the Sooners, at No. 16 in both the AP and Coaches polls.
Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama and Ole Miss are the top five teams this week in both weekly polls, with the Longhorns and Georgia switching off in the No. 1 spot.
