The SEC-bound Oklahoma football program is set to lockdown a top-10 2024 recruiting class on National Signing Day on Wednesday. And the Sooners are off to a fast start for 2025 with 10 commitments and a top-five class in the view of two major recruiting services so far.

Brent Venables and his staff have been working the recruiting trail hard during the month of January, OU's 2025 class is already looking impressive and is heavy on the offensive side so far with six offensive players, including three wide receivers and two offensive line prospects.

But that doesn't mean the Sooners aren't actively targeting top defensive targets as well. This past week Oklahoma received four predictions to land five-star safety Jonah Williams out of Galveston, Texas. He plays linebacker in high school and is ranked No. 2 at that position by the 247Sports Composite and the No. 2 player overall in the state of Texas in the 2025 class. OU, however, is recruiting Williams as a safety or possibly the Cheetah position.

All four predictions for Williams are from On3 recruiting analysts, including both the Texas Insider and the Texas A&M Insider. The latter of which is a big one. The Aggies have beaten out OU on several elite defensive players in recent years.

Tory Blaylock is a four-star running back from Humble, Texas, in the Greater Houston area, who is drawing quite a bit of attention nationally. It's still very early in the process, of course, but Collin Kennedy of 247Sports has projected that Blaylock will ultimately commit to the Sooners.

247Sports ranks Blaylock as the 12th-best running back in the 2025 class and a top-160 player overall. The Sooners currently do not have a running back committed in the 2025 class, so adding Blaylock would be a big pickup to an OU class that is looking stellar early on in the process.

The Sooners also have a pair or crystal ball projections for four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers from Pearland, Texas, near Houston. Sellers is rated as top-30 player at his position in the 2025 class and a top-150 player nationally. Rivals Futurecast predicts that the defensive standout will land with OU, and he has a similar prediction from On3.

Oklahoma isn't the only program pursuing Sellers, though. He also has offers from the likes of Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Texas A&M and LSU. Rivals ranks Sellers the No. 28 cornerback in the 2025 class.
