The Oklahoma football recruiting effort has brought in another 2024 commitment through the transfer portal.

On Friday, the Sooners received a commitment from former North Texas offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu, who becomes the sixth transfer pickup for the 2024 roster.

Nwaiwu started 20 games the past two seasons for the Mean Green of North Texas, including eight starts in 2023, a season in which he battled injuries. He was a starting guard on a North Texas team that ranked 23rd in the nation in scoring, averaging 34.5 points a game.

He is the second offensive lineman acquired by the Sooners from the transfer portal this cycle. joining Spencer Brown from Michigan State.

The addition of the 6-foot, four-inch, 315-pound O-lineman comes at a good time with Oklahoma losing three 2023 offensive line starters. T Walter Rouse, G McKade Mettauer are out of eligibility after the Alamo Bowl game, and center Andrew Raym and T Tyler Guyton have declared for the NFL Draft. Additionally, freshman tackle Cayden Green, a four-star recruit in the Sooners 2023 class has entered the transfer portal.

Nwaiwu was recruited to North Texas by OU co-offensive coordinator Seth Littrell in 2021 when the latter was head coach of the Mean Green. He redshirted in the 2021 season. He will have two year of eligibility at Oklahoma. He was named a Freshman All-American in 2021 and received all-conference honors in the American Athletic Conference this season.
