Brent Venables brought an SEC-caliber recruiting class to Norman, but will he have a team that is good enough to compete next season? Which freshmen will be big contributors for the Sooners?

Savion Byrd already entered the transfer portal, so its a certainty that Oklahoma will need to replace one of its five starters along the offensive line, but there could be more spots to fill after NFL draft declarations.

Eugene Brooks has an SEC ready frame at 6-foot-4 320 pounds and he’s actually down from nearly 400 pounds, so he’s much lighter on his feet and more athletic.

Brooks is listed as an interior offensive line prospect, but he played left tackle in high school and a 247 Sports scout, Greg Biggins said he has tackle feet and could stay on the outside if he was needed to.

The biggest diffenrcne between the SEC and every other conference in the country is not the skill players or the athletes in the secondary. It’s the trenches. The SEC has the biggest people in college football, and Venables found a legit SEC offensive lineman in Brooks.
