Oklahoma basketball: Sooners face No. 9 TCU in Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals

We now know who the Oklahoma basketball women will face in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Women's Tournament. OU's opponent will be the No. 9-seeded TCU Lady Horned Frogs.
TCU defeated No. 8 Oklahoma State 68-66 in the second round on Friday and now draws the No. 1-seeded Sooners on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 CT at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Lady Horned Frogs (20-10, 6-12) got a 22-point performance from Una Jovanovic and all but three points from its five starters in pulling off the upset over Oklahoma State. TCU's two leading scorers on the season, Sedona Prince and Madison Conner, contributed 13 and seven points, respectively. Oklahoma is going to have to account for all three in Saturday's quarterfinals. Prince and Conner both average 20 points a game.
With a win over TCU on Saturday, Oklahoma would advance to the semifinals and play the winner of No. 4 Baylor vs, No. 5 Iowa State. It would be the Sooners third straight semifinal in the Big 12 Championship. OU has won the Big 12 postseason tournament championship four times.
Three things to know about OU's Big 12 Tournament matchup vs. TCU
- Oklahoma and TCU met once during the 2024 regular season. Skylar Vann scored 17 and Payton Verhulst added 14 in a 72-55 Oklahoma victory in Norman.
- This will be the 41st and final meeting between OU and TCU as members of the Big 12. The Sooners have won the last six games and lead the all-time series 29-11. Oklahoma is 1-1 vs. TCU in the Big 12 Tournament.
- Oklahoma ended the regular season with a 15-3 record. The Sooners swept two games with No. 2 Texas and were 5-1 against teams seeded two through five in this year's Big 12 Championship.
