You may not have noticed unless you closely follow Oklahoma baseball, but the Sooners have won eight of their last 10 games, including six straight Big 12 wins, and this week they are the No. 17 team in NCAA Division I college baseball.

This is the first time this season that Oklahoma has been ranked in the top 25 and the first time since the 2022 season. The Sooners are ranked in the top-25 this week in all five major college baseball polls. Baseball America ranks OU the highest of the five, at No. 14, Perfect Game USA has the Sooners 17th, USA Today 20th and NCBWA 23rd.

At 6-0 and leading the Big 12 after two weeks of conference play, the Sooners are the only undefeated team in league play.

Oklahoma is one of just two Big 12 teams ranked in the D1Baseball poll this week. TCU, which the Sooners swept this past weekend, are No. 18 this week, dropping from No. 12 previously. Texas (23) and Texas Tech (25) dropped out of the top 25 after both lost two of three games over the weekend.

As a point of future reference, given the move by both Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC next season, eight SEC teams are ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25 this week, including six in the top 10. Arkansas is the top-ranked SEC team, followed by Vanderbilt (3), LSU (5), Florida (6), Texas A&M (7) and Tennessee (8).

Four of the Sooners 13 wins so far in the 2024 season are three against then-No. 12 TCU and a 5-1 win over Tennessee in 10 innings as part of the Shriners Children's College Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on the season-opening weekend Feb. 16-18.
