On the quest to a four-peat Patty Gasso’s Oklahoma Sooners nearly came up short in the semifinals, but now that Kelly Maxwell, Tiare Jennings, and Jayda Coleman have willed their team back to the Women’s College World Series Final, the switch seems to have been flipped. The Sooners slipped past UCLA 1-0, then needed two attempts and an extra inning to dispatch of the Florida Gators to set up a Red River Showdown with a national title on the line.

In Game 1 against the Texas Longhorns, Maxwell threw a complete game, allowing three runs, but only one of them was earned. Her offense spotted her a lead in the top of the first with two runs courtesy of a Jennings homer and Maxwell never gave it back. Kinzie Hansen and Kasidi Pickering added to the lead with home runs of their own in the top of the third.

Texas finished with just four hits on the evening while Maxwell racked up eight strikeouts. Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan only went 2.1 innings before giving up five earned runs on five hits and getting removed from the contest.

Now, the Sooners are just one win away from a fourth-consecutive national championship. Tonight, in Oklahoma City, Gasso’s team has a chance to clinch, so here’s how you can catch all the action.
