The Oklahoma Sooners have one of the best wide receiver corps in the nation. Depth, speed, size, and playmaking are rampant in the receivers' room. The first of the receiver previews goes to the Sooner's returning leading wide receiver, Nic Anderson.
Nic Anderson is a 6'4'', 215-pound supertarget for quarterback Jackson Arnold. He led the Sooners in receiving in 2023, hauling 31 catches for 798 yards (21.0 avg) and 10 touchdowns. He was named a freshman All-American and a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year award.
Anderson's biggest strength is his size. He uses his 6'4'' frame to body up defensive backs in man coverage and utilizes his size to make jump balls look easy. Next to Jayden Gibson, Anderson is the best jump ball receiver on the roster.
Anderson stamped his name on Sooner history last season with his Red River Rivalry game-winning score. He's a clutch receiver who played 2023 with a maturity rarely seen in a freshman player. This season, starting on the outside, Anderson looks to lead the talented Sooner receiver corps for the second season.
Anderson will excel in Seth Littrell's air raid offense. I'd project him to be a 1,000-yard receiver in 2024. In fact, I'd project Anderson to be a 1st or 2nd-team All-SEC receiver during his Sophomore campaign. Anderson brings consistent pass-catching, a deep ball threat, and clutch playmaking abilities to the Sooner attack in 2024.
