It had been a bit since an Oklahoma men's basketball team heard its name called on Selection Sunday.
The Sooners got into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021 and first time under Porter Moser when their name was called on Sunday.
OU got the 9-seed in the West Region and will play 8-seed UConn in the first round on Friday. The Huskies have won the past two national titles.
A win in the first round would likely mean a meeting with 1-seed Florida, which won the SEC tournament on Sunday.
Despite the tough draw against UConn and SEC champion Florida likely awaiting next in the second round, the Sooners were still stoked to get in, especially considering what their chances were just a few weeks ago.
The Sooners were one of the first teams out, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi, less than two weeks ago. Then they rattled off three straight wins within a week, including a top-15 upset, a road win against rival Texas and a victory over Georgia in the first round of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament.
That tournament win against Georgia all but punched the Sooners' ticket to the Big Dance.
Even though things seemed like a lock, Sooner Nation still wasn't celebrating until Oklahoma was actually seen on the bracket. The Sooners were the first team left out of the field of 68 two of the last three years.
Considering that heartbreak and seeming like an NCAA Tournament long shot a few weeks ago, the moment of hearing their name called was worthy of the Sooners celebrating on Sunday, with Moser front-and-center after getting OU into the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
