Nothing says renewing an in-state rivalry in Oklahoma like not being able to finish it because of a tornado.
The Oklahoma Sooners lost to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 7-3 on Tuesday night at ONEOK Field as the programs clashed in Bedlam, but the game was called with still an inning left after it was delayed when Tulsa was under a tornado warning.
Sooners fall to Oklahoma State in weather-shortened Bedlam after Tulsa tornado threat
The Cowboys put up three runs immediately in the top of the first inning to take a lead they never lost. OSU then scored another three runs in the fourth and added one more in the sixth to make the game nearing a blowout at 7-0.
The Sooners finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth just before the storm rolled into Downtown Tulsa. All of OU's runs came from Jaxon Willits' three-run home run over the right-center wall. But that was all the weather allowed for.
Willits' homer was the last swing of the night as the game went into a weather delay immediately after at 9:37 p.m. CT. The game was eventually called, and OU fans could always wonder "What if" as the Sooners' bats finally got going late with no outs. But it was ultimately too late. A college baseball game counts as complete as long as five innings are in the books, so Bedlam was a loss for OU as it dropped to 24-12 and unranked OSU pulled off the upset over the No. 14 Sooners.
The tarp was then rolled out at ONEOK Field as fans had to take cover, and social media was flooded with pictures and videos from the perfect Oklahoma scene.

Thanfully, there was no damage and everyone at ONEOK Field was safe. But this might not be the last time a tornado warning interrupts Bedlam this week. OU and OSU softball also meet at 8 p.m. CT Wednesday at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, and once again, there's a threat of severe weather in the state.
