Five former Oklahoma softball players and two from the current Sooner roster have been named to a pair of Team USA rosters that will compete in separate international competitions this summer.

Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso presides over both teams as head coach of the U.S. Women's National Team.

Former Sooners Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings and Kelly Maxwell will represent the Crimson and Cream and Team USA in the World Baseball Softball Confederation Group Stage event at Devon Park in Oklahoma City on Sept. 12-16. The United States is one of six teams that make up Group C in the WBSC World Cup.

Former Oklahoma Sooner Jocelyn Erickson is also part of the U.S. National Team roster, but she transferred to Florida after her freshman season in 2023 and was a standout the past three seasons with the Gators.

Team USA is the top seed in Group C, which also features teams from the Netherlands, Mexico, China, New Zealand and South Africa. A total of 18 teams are participating in the Women's Softball World Cup event. The teams are split into three groups of six with the top two teams from each group advancing to the finals in 2027.

Oklahoma leads the roster for Team USA competing in the World Cup Group Stage with four players. UCLA has three players on the roster, and Tennessee and Kentucky have two players each.

Three other Sooners were named to the U.S. Women's Elite Team roster that will take part in the International Cup on July 30-Aug. 3, also in Oklahoma City. Former two-time National Player of the Year and OU standout Keilani Ricketts will be joined by current Sooners Gabbie Garcia and Kendall Wells on that team.

UCLA is represented by five players on the U.S. Elite Team roster, followed by Oklahoma with three and Texas with two.

Both the U.S. National Team and the U.S. Elite Team will participate as part of the International Cup along with teams from Japan, Canada, China, Australia, Chinese Taipei and American Somoa. Japan is the No. 1 seed in this tournament with the U.S. National Team seeded No. 2.

Oklahoma assistant coaches JT Gasso and Jennifer Rocha are also part of Gasso's Team USA coaching staff, which also includes former Sooner assistant Jennifer McFalls, currently the head coach at Kansas .
