After a silent start to the transfer portal season for the Oklahoma Sooners, Patty Gasso got loud on Thursday night.
The Sooners added outfielder Macie Harter from Middle Tennessee State, outfielder Adi Hansen from College of Southern Idaho and catcher Abbie Gregus from Loyola Chicago out of the transfer portal all within moments of each other. All three announced via social media their commitments to OU just shortly after Gasso hinted on X that three additions were coming with her signature "Go Boomer!!" post before a commitment.

Sooners fill underrated roster needs with first portal commits Macie Harter, Adi Hansen and Abbie Gregus
Harter was the first portal addition of the offseason with two years of eligibility left after two seasons at Mid Tennessee. She's coming off the best season of her career so far after hitting .346 with seven home runs, 23 RBI, 41 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 46 starts. She led the Blue Raiders in batting average, on-base percentage, runs, hits, doubles, walks and stolen bases in 2026.
She somewhat fills the void that Kasidi Pickering left with her transfer to Texas Tech. However, that doesn't mean Harter will immediately crack the starting lineup for the Sooners with two spots basically sealed up by Kai Minor and Ella Parker. Payton Westra, the top recruit in the 2026 class, is also on her way to Norman. And that's also not including returners Sydney Barker and Chaney Helton, who are both capable of earning a starting spot in the outfielder.
Hansen is also an outfielder with two years left making a massive leap to the SEC from the junior-college ranks. She was a NJCAA First Team All-America honoree this past season after batting .457 with 82 runs and 21 RBI. Most notably, Hansen stole a school record 62 bases in 67 attempts.
That's likely the stat that caught Gasso's eye, because speed is speed no matter where a player comes from. Hansen might even be an upgrade from Tia Milloy, who transferred after being used primarily as a pinch runner.

The third addition of the evening was Gregus, who fills that backup catcher spot that was open behind Kendall Wells with Isabela Emerling graduating. Last season, Gregus hit .195 with one home run, drastically different than her new record-breaking counterpart. Right now, Wells is the only returning catcher on OU's roster. Goose Hutchens, the No. 1 player in the 2027 class as a catcher, could also join the Sooners next season with the expectation of graduating early from in-state Wagoner High School.
These weren't glamorous transfer additions that will make headlines across college softball, but they each filled a need the Sooners had. And there's no need to overspend just because a player is a big name from a Power Four program when there's no reason to.
