Oklahoma wrestler, son of WWE legend joining Sooner football team

It looks like Jacob Henry, son of Mark Henry, has walked on to OU's football team.

Usually walk-ons are unfamiliar names, but not the Oklahoma Sooners' newest addition.

Jacob Henry on Monday posted a picture on X of a locker in OU's football facilities with his name on it and a caption that read, "Day 1." Henry also updated his bio that he's a defensive tackle at OU, so all signs from Henry are pointing toward him joining the football team, presumably as a walk-on.

Henry is already a freshman student-athlete at OU on the Sooners' wrestling team. A heavyweight with a 285-pound limit, Henry hasn't seen the mat this season.

Henry was actually listed as one of my five OU athletes who could compete in a different sport. He was a three-sport athlete at Vandergrift High School in Austin, Texas, competing in football, wrestling and track & field.

He had also recently hinted at the possibility of joining OU's football team.

As a football player, 247Sports rated Henry as a three-star defensive lineman prospect in the 2024 class. He had reported offers from Aransas Pine-Bluff, Austin Peay, Bethune-Cookman, Eastern Illinois and Fordham.

It's still unknown if Henry will be a two-sport athlete for the Sooners or now just focus solely on football.

Henry's father, Mark Henry, was also an incredible athlete.

Mark Henry was a two-time Olympic powerlifter before a 25-year career in the WWE. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

It seems Jacob Henry is following right in his father's footsteps. He's also become known for impressive strength and already signed an NIL deal with WWE while regularly attending events with his dad. His X bio reads "Future Wrestle Mania Main Eventer."
