The six-time national champion Oklahoma women's gymnastic squad opens its 2025 season this weekend ranked No. 1 and in quest of a seventh NCAA title.

The Sooners will open the season on Saturday at the Music City Collegiate Championship in Nashville, Tennessee, featuring four nationally ranked teams. Also participating in Nashville will be No. 17 Auburn, No. 23 Nebraska and No. 27 BYU.

This is the seventh time in program history that Oklahoma has been ranked in the No. 1 spot in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association preseason poll and the 15th consecutive time the Sooners have been ranked in the nation's top five to begin the season.

Oklahoma's highly competitive 2025 schedule includes 14 teams ranked in the WCGA preseason poll and 12 in the top 25.

Next weekend, OU will host No. 2 LSU, the reigning national champions, No. 4 California and No. 5 Utah in Oklahoma City.

The Sooners received 42 of the 55 first-place votes in the preseason national ranking. LSU was second with six first-place votes and Florida was third with five. California and Utah rounded out the top five with one first-place vote each.

Oklahoma and head coach K.J. Kindler are coming off a record-breaking 2024 season in which the Sooners set a new NCAA and program record with 12 team scores of 198 or better. Unfortunately, Oklahoma's bid for a third-consecutive national championship ended last season in the national semifinals.

A four-time National Coach of the Year, Kindler is in her 20th season as head coach of the Sooners. Over that time, she has led Oklahoma to six national titles and 12 top-three national finishes.

The 2025 squad returns individual national champions Audrey Davis (uneven bars and beam) and Faith Torrez (beam), as well as All-Americans Jordan Bowers and Keira Wells. The Sooners also bring in the nation's top recruiting class, according to College Gym Fans.
