There will be no losing streak for the Oklahoma women's basketball team.

After dropping back-to-back games last week, the No. 15 Sooners beat Ole Miss 66-56 on Thursday night in Oxford, Mississippi, to get back in the win column. At 17-6 and 5-5 in SEC play, OU still hasn't had a losing streak all season with the toughest part of its schedule now over.

Avoiding losing streaks should transform into building winning streaks for the Sooners. Before playing Ole Miss, OU faced three top-15 opponents in a span of four games. With No. 24 Vanderbilt and No. 23 Alabama barely inside the top 25, there's a chance the Sooners don't play another ranked team the rest of the season.

The Sooners won Thursday night without their leading scorer, center Raegan Beers. According to Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman, Beers sat out because of illness. She was on the bench but never played.

Beers should return before the Sooners' next game since they don't see the court again until Monday against Auburn.

Without Beers, guard Payton Verhulst stepped up and led the Sooners with 19 points and posted a double-double with 10 rebounds. She also added five assists. Verhulst is second on the team with a 15-point average.

Verhulst was one of three OU players to reach double digits. Forward Sahara Williams scored 14 and Liz Scott put up 10. Scott got the start down low with Beers out.

That will be the Sooners' only action of the week without a game on Super Bowl Sunday. Next, OU will host Auburn at 7 p.m. CT Monday.
