Oklahoma vs. Georgia key storylines
1. OU has a lengthy list of injuries to overcome
It's pretty obvious from the list above, but the Sooners will be missing some key pieces for their SEC opener.
Of the five players already ruled out for the Sooners, four are regular starters when healthy. All of them were also sidelined last week, with starting left tackle Michael Fasusi being out since getting injured during the first game of the season opener.
The biggest question mark leading up to Saturday will be the status of defensive tackle David Stone, who is listed as questionable as of Wednesday after dislocating his left kneecap during practice on Monday. It seems Stone's injury isn't as serious as initially expected, but he's still a long shot to suit up against Georgia and will be a detrimental loss in stopping Georgia's No. 1 offense.
The only good news on the injury front so far is that the Sooners should return linebacker Kip Lewis, who was listed as probable on Wednesday.
2. Sooners' immovable defense clashes with Georgia's unstoppable offense
Something will have to give on Saturday.
Georgia enters the game with the No. 1 scoring offense in the FBS while averaging 59.3 points through three games. The Bulldogs, though, haven't faced a real challenge yet, and Brent Venables' defense could be their stoutest obstacle all season.
The Sooners are in the top 10 in the country in scoring defense and total defense. They're giving up 7.7 points per game (4th in FBS) and 215.3 yards per game (9th in FBS).
Saturday will reveal if the Bulldogs really do have the best offense in college football or have just been feasting on weak competition.
3. OU's offense stuck in park
The Sooners' offense has been, simply, terrible the last two weeks. After blowing out UTEP 51-0 in Week 1, OU has averaged 12 points in the last two games. The Sooners just managed to put up only 14 points against New Mexico, which was its lowest point total in a win since 2013.
Whether the blame is on offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle, quarterback John Mateer or offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, no matter what, the offense has to be better, or else Saturday could get really ugly.
