It didn't take long for the Oklahoma Sooners to have a number next to their name no matter which college football poll was used.

Both major college football polls were released on Tuesday after a long Week 1 with the Sooners holding steady at No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 and finally cracking the top 25 of the coaches poll at No. 24.

Sooners jump into coaches poll top 25 but stay put in AP Top 25

The Sooners were snubbed in the preseason coaches poll and left out of the top 25 for the first time since 1999 as the first team left out. But apparently coaches saw enough from the Sooners in their 35-3 win over Illinois State to boost them inside the top 25.

It also helped that Boise State lost and Kansas State struggled against an FCS team to drop from the rankings. That opened the door for OU and Florida State, which rose 28 spots to No. 19 after hammering Alabama on Saturday. Alabama plummeted 12 spots to No. 20, one slot below the Seminoles.

Another Week 1 causality was Texas, which went from No. 1 to No. 6 in the coaches poll after losing to Ohio State, which now sits at the top. Texas dropped even further in the AP Top 25 to No. 7.

After beating New Mexico 34-17, OU's next opponent, Michigan, rose one spot to No. 13 in the coaches poll while slipping a notch to No. 15 in the AP Top 25. Regardless, OU's movement solidified a top-25 matchup this week in Norman no matter the poll.

The Sooners will host Michigan at 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The meeting of ranked blue bloods earned the primetime slot on ABC and drew ESPN College GameDay to Norman.
