The 2-seeded Oklahoma women gymnasts advanced to the NCAA Seattle Regional final on Sunday after posting the top score in one of the two preliminary sessions on Friday.

Oklahoma finished first in all four team events, totaling a winning cumulative score of 198.025., the fifth time OU has reached the 198 level this season. Auburn finished second to the Sooners in the evening session with a score of 196.950, followed by Illinois (195.975) and Nebraska (195.675).

Sooners moving on in NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships

The Sooners move on to Sunday's regional championship round along with No. 15 Auburn, which finished second to OU in the second session on Friday, No. 7 Missouri and Arizona. Missouri (197.650) and Arizona (196.250) were the top-2 teams in the afternoon session.

The top-2 teams from each session, in addition to the top individual performers in each event not on one of the advancing teams, moved on to compete in the regional final on Sunday.

The Sooners started strong in one of their best events, posting a top score of 49.625 in floor exercise to lead the field after the opening rotation. It was Oklahoma's fourth-highest score in the event in regional competition. Every OU gymnast scored 9.90 or better in the event, highlighted by a near-perfect 9.975 from junior Faith Torrez.

OU wasn't as sharp in the second rotation, scoring a season-low 49.175 on vault, but still remained in the lead heading to the uneven bars. The Sooners rebounded with another strong group performance, scoring 49.425 on bars to extend their advantage over the other three teams.

Oklahoma saved the best for last, finishing out the evening in style with its highest score of the season on the balance beam at 49.700, which featured a perfect 10 from Torrez in the anchor position.

OU's Torrez was the all-around champion of the Seattle Regional competition and also was the individual titlist on beam and floor, and shared the title with teammates Jordan Bowers and Audrey Davis on bars.

The winning team in Sunday's championship final will advance along with seven other regional champions in the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 14-17.

The Sooners are seeking their seventh national title in women's gymnastics. They finished sixth a year ago after back-to-back national championships in 2022 and '23.
