Vegas is expecting a nail-biter in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners travel to No. 14 Tennessee at 6:30 p.m. CT Saturday, and despite the higher-ranked team being home and under the lights for a blackout, Vegas oddsmakers still don’t expect the Volunteers to run away with this one.

Volunteers slight favorites over OU

As of Saturday before kickoff, every oddsmaker had Tennessee favored, but none by more than three points, with most having the margin even slimmer than that as less than an even a one-possession game.

FanDuel and BetMGM both had the Sooners as 2.5-point underdogs as of Saturday afternoon. DraftKings also did until closing the mark at 3 just before kickoff.

The only other time this season that OU closed as an underdog was to Texas at 2.5 points for a neutral site meeting in Dallas. The Longhorns were actually the lower-ranked team going in, but it was unknown if the Sooners would have quarterback John Mateer. In the end, Mateer played, but Texas still won and proved Vegas correct by covering the spread with a 23-6 victory.

Meanwhile, Tennessee is undefeated so far this season in games it was favored in. However, the Volunteers haven’t closed as less than touchdown favorites yet. Overall, Tennessee is 4-4 against the spread this season.

With the SEC’s best offense and defense going at it, FanDuel set the over/under at 55.5 points. Tennessee has went over in six of eight games this season, but under in two of its last three.

The Sooners are opposite, as last weekend’s 34-26 loss to Ole Miss was the first time this season a game that included OU went over.

Between two teams with opposite styles of results and a one-possession spread, Oklahoma-Tennessee is one of the most difficult games of Week 10 to pick.
