By now, most Oklahoma football fans are aware that the Sooners have climbed into the No. 11 spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 and are No. 12 in the Coaches Poll.

Things are starting to change in SEC football as competition begins to ramp up moving into the fourth week of the college season and with upcoming head-to-head matchups of SEC teams ranked in the nation's top 25.

Twelve of the teams ranked in this week's Coaches Poll are from the SEC, and 11 are ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 for Week 4. That, of course, is sure to change as the season progresses and with all those SEC teams, including Oklahoma, continuing to line up against each other in the immediate weeks ahead.

Prior to this past weekend, there had been just one head-to-head matchup of SEC teams. There were four such matchups this past weekend. And those results alone created a shakeup in the Stormin' in Norman SEC Power Rankings entering Week 4.

1. Georgia Bulldogs (3-0)

Georgia vs. Tennessee, last week's No. 2 and No. 7 teams in our SEC Power Rankings, respectively, was one of several marquee matchups in the SEC last weekend. The game was tightly contested with neither team gaining more than an eight-point advantage the entire game. There were four lead changes in the second half and two in the fourth quarter, with Georgia ultimately prevailing 44-41. The Bulldogs face another stern test this weekend when Alabama comes calling.

Previous rank: 2

2. LSU Tigers (3-0)

LSU dropped down a spot this week after a 20-10 win at home over Florida. The Tigers struggled a bit against a desperate Florida Gators team trying to rebound from being upset at home the week before by a surprising South Florida team. LSU could be back on top against next week depending on the outcome of the Georgia-Alabama game.

Previous rank: 1

3. Oklahoma Sooners (3-0)

The Sooners dominated Temple on both sides of the ball on Saturday in a 42-3 win. The Oklahoma defense has yielded just one touchdown and a total of 19 points in the Sooners' first three games. The Sooners play their first conference game of the season on Saturday, hosting Auburn and the return to Norman of former OU quarterback Jackson Arnold.

Previous rank: 4

4. Tennessee Volunteers (2-1)

Tennessee was impressive on Saturday against Georgia and actually had a chance to win the game in regulation, but freshman kicker Max Gilbert missed a 43-yard field-goal attempt with time expiring to send the game into an extra session. The Volunteers' performance against Georgia was impressive enough for them to move up from No. 7 in last week's power rankings.

Previous rank: 7

5. Alabama Crimson Tide (2-1)

After losing to Florida State in Week 1 and burying Louisiana-Monroe in Week 2, Alabama took it out on a not very good Wisconsin team by a 24-point margin, 38-14, this past weekend. The Crimson Tide are starting to get their act together, which spells trouble for SEC opponents. We'll get a much stronger read on who Alabama is this season when the Tide travels to Athens, Georgia, this weekend.

Previous rank: 6

6. Texas A&M Aggies (3-0)

Texas A&M played Notre Dame toe to toe on Saturday, and the Aggies did so at a tough place to play in South Bend. This is another top-25 contest over the weekend that went back and forth late. Texas A&M scored the winning touchdown with 13 seconds remaining in the game to erase a 40-34 deficit. The Aggies will get an extra week to rest on their laurels. They have a bye this week before returning to action on Sept. 27 at home against Auburn.

Previous rank: 12

7. Texas Longhorns (2-1)

Texas had little trouble beating UTEP in Austin, but the Longhorns did so in truly underwhelming fashion, particularly for a team that was preseason No. 1. Everybody's Heisman favorite to start the season, Arch Manning, completed just 11 of 24 passes for 114 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Longhorns will take on Sam Houston State at home this weekend. They have a bye week the following week before traveling to play at Florida on Oct. 4, and then the Oklahoma-Texas Red River Rivalry on Oct. 11 in Dallas.

Previous rank: 3

8. Vanderbilt Commodores (3-0)

Don't count out Vanderbilt in any game this season. The Commodores throttled South Carolina 38-10 at South Carolina this past weekend. As a result, Vandy jumped up three spots in this week's power rankings. The Commodores don't face another conference opponent until a road test at Alabama on Oct. 4.

Previous rank: 11

9. Missouri Tigers (3-0)

Some might argue that Missouri should be higher than ninth, but the reality is, the Tigers haven't really faced anybody of consequence yet with the exception of Kansas. And all three games so far have been at home. That changes this week as the Tigers will get their first true road test against South Carolina, sure to be an angry team after being humbled at home by Vanderbilt on Saturday. After Saturday, we will be able to more fairly assess how good this Missouri team really is.

Previous rank: 8

10. Ole Miss Rebels (3-0)

Ole Miss was able to hold off a determined Arkansas team over the weekend. After a blowout win over overmatched Georgia State to open the season, the Rebels have survived two consecutive one-score games, both against conference opponents (at Kentucy and vs. Arkansas). Upcoming this weekend, Ole Miss hosts undefeated Tulane (3-0) before welcoming LSU the weekend after.

Previous rank: 10

11. Florida Gators (1-2)

The Gators suffered their second straight loss, falling to LSU this past weekend. Florida obviously raised its game against LSU compared to how it played the week before in losing to South Florida. It doesn't get any easier this weekend for the Gators. Their opponent this Saturday is No. 4 Miami, a team that beat South Florida 49-12 this past weekend. South Florida upset Florida 16-15 in Week 2.

Previous rank: 13

12. Auburn Tigers (3-0)

Auburn is 3-0 and travel to Norman, Oklahoma, this week for its conference opener against the Sooners. The Tigers' average victory margin in their three nonconference wins is 23 points, but they are going to face a formidable test against a true SEC-quality defense in Oklahoma. This will easily be Auburn's toughest test so far this season.

Previous rank: 12

13. South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1)

South Carolina drops down eight spots from a week ago after its stunning 38-10 home loss to Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks travel to play at Missouri this weekend before returning home to host Kentucky the following week.

Previous rank: 5

14. Mississippi State (3-0)

Picked to finish last in the SEC standings in the conference's preseason media poll, Mississippi State, coached by former Oklahoma alum and offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, has posted three straight wins to begin the season, including a 24-20 victory over reigning Big 12 champion Arizona State. The cowbells will be out in force again this weekend as the Bulldogs seek to expand their season-opening win streak to four games before opening up their conference schedule at home against Tennessee on Sept. 27.

Previous rank: 14

15. Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1)

The Razorbacks rolled to blowout wins over Alabama State and Arkansas A&M to start the season, but are coming off a tough loss to Ole Miss (41-35) in a shootout this past weekend. The road gets much rockier from now on with a nonconference road test against Memphis this week followed by Notre Dame in Fayetteville on Sept. 27.

Previous rank: 15

16. Kentucky Wildcats (2-1)

Kentucky rebounded from a 30-23 loss a week ago to Ole Miss with a 48-23 win over Eastern Michigan. The Wildcats are off this week and return to action on Sept. 27 at South Carolina with a chance to pick up some ground in the power rankings.
