No other college football fan base in America can enjoy the NFL's championship weekend more than Sooner Nation.
The Oklahoma Sooners have more former players competing with their respective teams in the NFC and AFC Championship games than any other college football program. There will be 10 former Sooners competing this weekend to go to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9.
The two schools with the next most are fellow SEC members Alabama and Georgia, both with eight players. After that is Florida with seven and Penn State at six, according to Pick Six Previews.
Championship weekend of the NFL Playoffs will start with the NFC Championship between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles, followed by the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship. The winner of each game will meet in the Super Bowl.
Below is a full schedule and every Sooner that is expected to play this weekend.
Washington Commanders: Tress Way (P)
Philadelphia Eagles: Grant Calcaterra (TE), Jalen Hurts (QB), Lane Johnson (OU)
With Lane Johnson protecting him again, Jalen Hurts could lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl for the second time with a win over the Commanders on Sunday. Hurts quarterbacked the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII in 2023 and lost to the Chiefs, 38-35.
The Commanders, though, already took out one Sooner quarterback on their run to get this far. Tress Way held the ball as the Commanders made a game-winning field goal to upset Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. The Commanders then knocked out the top-seeded Detroit Lions 45-31 last week.
Buffalo Bills: Jordan Phillips (DT)
Kansas City Chiefs: Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (WR), Creed Humphrey (C), Wanya Morris (OT), Samaje Perine (RB), James Winchester (LS)
The two-time defending Super Bowl champions Chiefs have more former Sooners on their roster than any other team that made the NFL Playoffs this season with five. Creed Humphrey is an Pro Bowler anchoring the offensive line that protects Patrick Mahomes, while Marquise "Hollywood" Brown is one of Mahomes' greatest deep threats.
James Winchester has also already won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs already.
