The list of potential poachers keeps growing for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Oklahoma's 2026 quarterback commit Jaden O'Neal posted late Thursday night about taking an official visit to the Arizona Wildcats. O'Neal will be in Arizona on Friday, according to 247Sports.
Jaden O'Neal schedules visit to Arizona
There's been a lot of drama surrounding O'Neal's commitment, and it's certainly not one-sided. O'Neal committed to the Sooners last summer and seemed to be a lock until OU offered another 2026 quarterback, Bowe Bentley, in January shortly after Ben Arbuckle took over as offensive coordinator. Bentley has since rocketed up recruiting rankings and has narrowed his choices down to OU and LSU.
As the interest between OU and Bentley grew, so did O'Neal's other options as a four-star recruit. He first announced an offer from Georgia and eventually visited Athens, but the Bulldogs have now locked in a 2026 QB so they backed off both of OU's targets.
With official visit season here, O'Neal has trips planned to Florida State on June 15 and Arizona this weekend. O'Neal has ties to the Wildcats. His longtime trainer and mentor, Ortege Jenkins, played quarterback for Arizona in 1997-2000 and was inducted into the Wildcats' Ring of Honor in 2022.
O'Neal also still has an official visit scheduled to OU for June 20 during the Sooners' ChampU recruiting weekend. Bentley will visit Norman on June 6 and LSU this weekend.
Despite pursuing Bentley, OU has still been pushing hard for O'Neal. Several coaches, including Arbuckle, visited O'Neal at his home just last week. O'Neal recently moved from California to Mustang High School in Oklahoma for his senior year.
Both parties have options, and it might ultimately come down to Bentley's decision. However, the Sooners also have to avoid the worst-case scenario of losing both quarterbacks after trying to juggle two at the same time.
