A weekly staple at Stormin' In Norman, here's news you might have missed about your Sooners over the weekend, with an emphasis on non-revenue sports that might get overlooked, especially in the midst of football season.
OU women's basketball dominates in first showing
The OU women's basketball team has high expectations for this season, and the Sooners just gave a glimpse of why.
Yes, it was only Southern Nazarene, but OU dominated 124-39 on Sunday for the largest margin of victory in an exhibition game ever under Jennie Baranczyk. That not only means stars like Aaliyah Chavez took care of business, but also speaks to the depth OU has this season, with seven players scoring double figures.
This time last year, it was Chavez and Brooklyn Stewart introducing themselves and using these exhibition games to adjust to the college level, but after stellar freshman campaigns, the two are immediately leaders this season. Stewart led the Sooners with 21 points, while Chavez posted 14 points and nine assists from the point.
The next time OU takes the court, it will be for real. The Sooners head to Paris to open their season against No. 12 North Carolina on Monday, Nov. 2.
OU volleyball dominates Alabama
OU volleyball went to Tuscaloosa on Sunday and left with an easy 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-18, 25-22) of Alabama. Carley Butler led the Sooners with 15 kills, which tied a career high, while also hitting a career-best .684 with only two errors on 19 attempts.
It was a bounce-back win for the Sooners after losing three in a row since upsetting then-No. 9 Texas in the Red River Rivalry. OU is 11-7 overall and 4-5 in SEC play now after the tough stretch.
The Sooners are in the midst of a six-match road trip, with Arkansas next on Friday.
Sooners wrestling debuts with Crimson and Cream Dual
We saw our first look at the 2026-27 OU wrestling team, and it's really the best look we'll get all season in essentially an intrasquad, as nearly everyone saw action in the Crimson and Cream Dual at McCasland Field House.
It was the OU debut for 10 wrestlers, including Chattanooga transfer Isaiah Powe at 141 pounds. He was not only the only Sooner to tally two wins in the same night, but both were technical falls. Oklahoma State transfer Jersey Robb, from in-state Bixby High School, also made a solid first impression at 197 with a 7-3 decision over Anthony Harris Jr., who started three duals for OU last season.
Two freshmen earned wins in their own debuts, as 133-pounder Mikey Ruiz won 7-1 and 184-pounder Mason Ontiveros notched a 16-7 major decision.
