Overshadowed by the disappointment of Oklahoma football's loss to No. 15 Kentucky, other sports in Norman were not only finding success but making history.
A new weekly staple at Stormin' In Norman, here's news you might have missed about your Sooners, with an emphasis on non-revenue sports that might get overlooked, especially in the midst of football season.
Patty Gasso inducted into Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame
Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso belongs in every hall of fame she's eligible for, and now, as of Friday, she's officially a member of the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame. Fittingly, the master of ceremonies for the event was former OU women's basketball head coach Sherri Coale.
According to the OWHOF, it strives to provide the highest honor to Oklahoma women who reside in Oklahoma or were former residents of the state, and who provided outstanding service benefiting the lives of women and families in Oklahoma, the nation or elsewhere around the world.
That's definitely Gasso.
Gasso has been leading OU softball for 33 years now and has built a dynasty in Norman during her time there. She's the winningest active coach in NCAA Division I softball with 1,619 wins and counting. She's led the Sooners to 18 Women's College World Series and has won eight national titles.
She's also so highly respected in the softball world that she leads the USA Softball Team.
Kayla Keefer tallies another hat trick
OU junior Kayla Keefer has tallied not one, not two, not three, but four (!!!!) hat tricks this season for OU soccer. She just pulled off her fourth on Sunday against her former team in the Sooners' 6-1 win over Ole Miss. It was also head coach Matt Mott's return to Ole Miss as the Rebels' former coach.
Keefer got things going quickly Sunday night with a goal in the 8th minute on a penalty kick. She then scored twice more within moments of each other in the 49th and 51st minutes to complete the hat trick with three goals.

The victory clinched the Sooners a spot in the SEC Tournament at 11-2-3 and 5-3 in SEC action, while also making OU history with the most goals ever in a conference match.

OU baseball gets national championship bling
Skip Johnson's squad is still enjoying its improbable run to a national title, and rightfully so.
The Sooners on Friday night received their championship rings. The top features the OU logo and three gemstone home plates to represent all three of the Sooners' national titles in baseball. The top also opens to unveil the NCAA championship trophy and OU's national title logo.
