Former Sooners Danny Stutsman, Billy Bowman Jr. going in third round of NFL Draft

In just one day, NFL Draft prospects will start learning their next destination, but until then, it's all just projections.

Chad Reuter of NFL.com did a seven-round mock draft and had two former OU defenders going in the third round as the only Sooners getting drafted this year.

First, Reuter projected the Denver Broncos to select linebacker Danny Stutsman with the 85th overall pick. That move would reunite Stutsman with former OU teammate and fellow linebacker Nik Bonnito, who was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

OU safety Billy Bowman Jr. was then predicted to go with the 88th overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars should use this draft to fill some holes in their secondary, including safety, so Bowman could answer a major need in Jacksonville.

The NFL Draft will start with the first round at 7 p.m. CT Thursday. Day 2 of the NFL Draft that includes the second and third rounds, when Bowman and Stutsman are projected to go, will start at 5 p.m. CT Friday.

OU football lands first defensive transfer of spring cycle

The Sooners on Tuesday evening landed their third commit from the transfer portal during this spring cycle and first addition to the defensive side of the ball.

Former Utah State and Oklahoma State defensive tackle Siolaa Lolohea announced on X that he committed to the Sooners after visiting Norman the day before and getting an OU offer the day he entered the transfer portal on Friday.

Lolohea just finished his redshirt freshman season at Utah State and will have three years of eligibility left. He played under new OU inside linebackers coach Nate Dreiling at Utah State, where Dreiling was interim head coach and defensive coordinator last year.

OU baseball drops close midweek game to ORU

The OU baseball team's four-game winning streak came to an end with a 5-3 loss to Oral Roberts on Tuesday night in Norman.

The Sooners struck first with a run in the first inning, but then ORU responded with a pair of runs in the next frame. The Golden Eagles added another run in the fourth before the Sooners got across two more in the bottom half to tie the game.

ORU then scored one in the fifth, then another in the ninth to secure the midweek win.

It was only the Sooners' third midweek loss this season. Both of the first two came against Dallas Baptist.

The loss also halted a four-game run for the Sooners after beating Oklahoma State in Bedlam last week, then sweeping Missouri in a three-game SEC series.
