Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy are trying to secure all those depth pieces the Sooners need before 2026.
According to Adam Gorney of Rivals, Oregon redshirt freshman cornerback Dakoda Fields is scheduled to visit Oklahoma for three days, arriving on Sunday before leaving Tuesday. Fields was a midseason addition to the Transfer Portal back in November.
Dakoda Fields visiting OU out of Transfer Portal
Fields never started a game for the Ducks, but that's not what the Sooners need either. OU is expected to return both starting corners from this season in sophomore Eli Bowen and freshman Courtland Guillory, but behind them, the Sooners need reinforcements. OU just saw four depth pieces at cornerback head to the Transfer Portal, creating a new need for the Sooners that Fields can help fill.
Fields appeared in just three games in two years at Oregon. He was injured all of 2024, then played in the first three games this season and recorded a tackle before not seeing the field again.
Fields got to Oregon as a consensus four-star recruit from the 2024 class out of Junipero Serra High School in California. According to the 247Sports Composite, Fields was the No. 13 corner in his class and No. 90 overall prospect in the country. He had an impressive list of offers that included Alabama, USC, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and more.
The lack of production from Fields so far in his career could disappoint fans, but with his talent and still being so young, he could blossom in Venables' system while being the value depth piece the Sooners need.
