The Oklahoma Sooners and Brent Venables are after their future at quarterback as if they're scheduling a nonconference game.
Quarterback Graham Simpson, who's still a freshman in high school, announced via X that he already got an offer from the Sooners in the earliest of stages in recruitment for the 2028 class.

Oklahoma getting head start on 2028 quarterback
Although it seems wild the Sooners would already extend an offer to a player after only one season of playing in high school, OU is likely getting a head start on a quarterback who will draw interest from just about every college football program in the country.
OU also isn't the only program already after Simpson either. He has also announced offers from Memphis, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Boston College, Duke, Arkansas, UCLA, Arizona and North Carolina.
Simpson is worthy of the phenom tag after his freshman campaign. In his first action at the high school level, Simpson completed 75.8% of his passes for a whopping 4,135 yards and 57 touchdowns with only one interception. He went all the way until the state semifinals before throwing his first career interception.
He led Westview High School to a Tennessee state title and was named MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year.
Playing Division I football is also already in Simpson's DNA. His older brother, Ty, is a quarterback at Alabama. In Simpson's high school debut, he threw for seven touchdowns, breaking his brother's school record for most passing touchdowns in a game. Ty had previously thrown five TDs in a game.
Still in the midst of building the 2026 class, the Sooners don't have any commitments from the 2028 class yet. Any decision from Simpson is likely far down the road as his offers list will continue to inflate.
If Simpson does choose the Sooners, he wouldn't even be in Norman until 2028. And who knows if Venables will still even be OU's head coach by then.
