Elite 2027 safety Eli Johnson is visiting only the best to decide where he'll play college football.
Sam Spiegelman of Rivals recently reported that Johnson has scheduled game-day visits for this fall to Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State. OK, so Johnson is actually visiting some blue bloods, plus Texas A&M.
Eli Johnson reportedly visiting OU, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State
Johnson has emerged early as one of the top prospects in the 2027 class. A consensus four-star recruit, Johnson is the No. 8 safety and No. 94 overall prospect in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite, out of Steele High School in Texas.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, Johnson already has exceptional size as a defensive back. Last season as a sophomore, he recorded 68 tackles, three tackles for loss, a pass breakup, two forced fumbles, three fumble returns and two interceptions.
A loaded list of offers resulted in Johnson's high-profile list of visits. He also holds offers from the likes of Florida State, Michigan, Oregon, SMU, Texas Tech and more. The Sooners have been on Johnson early since an offer last July, long before Texas, Texas A&M and Ohio State.
Still extremely early in the cycle, the Sooners just landed their first 2027 commit in offensive lineman Luke Wilson from Southlake Carroll High School in Texas. Most 2027 prospects, though, won't start announcing decisions until next summer.
