The Oklahoma Sooners are expected to have one of the best defensive lines in the country this season, and they're trying to keep it that way in the future.

Defensive tackle T-Ron Richardson on Tuesday announced his commitment to OU to become the Sooners' sixth addition to their future defensive front from the 2026 class.

T-Ron Richardson commits to OU

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, Richardson is a three-star recruit from Hopewell High School in Virginia. According to the 247Sports Composite, though, Richardson has four stars as the No. 48 defensive lineman in the 2026 class.

Richardson chose the Sooners over Penn State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and more. OU had offered Richardson in April before he took an official visit to Norman on June 6. He also took official visits to Syracuse, Penn State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech this summer.

With 18 total 2026 commits now for the Sooners, three are edge rushers and three are interior defensive linemen, including Richardson. The other defensive linemen are three-star prospects James Carrington and Brian Harris.

The Sooners brought in the most talent on the edge with Jake Kreul, who ESPN gave five stars, and three-stars Daniel Norman and Matthew Nelson.

Richardson's commitment bumped the Sooners' 2026 recruiting class from No. 24 to No. 22 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings. OU has the 20th-best class according to On3 and Rivals.
