The four-time defending national champion Oklahoma softball team will open the 2025 season on Feb. 6 in California in quest of an unprecedented fifth consecution NCAA title. OU's full 52-game regular-season schedule was announced this week.
The Sooners open the season with a six-game California road swing. They will open up in San Diego with an opening day doubleheader against California State University at Northridge and San Diego State. That will be followed Feb. 7-9 with games against Cal Baptist, Cal State-Fullerton and Loyola Marymount.
OU's 2025 schedule includes 10 games with teams from last season's Women's College World Series, 18 against 2024 Super Regional teams and 31games with teams that competed in last season's NCAA Tournament. Nine of the teams the Sooners will play this season finished among the top-25 teams in the final 2024 Coaches Poll.
Patty Gasso begins her 31st season at the helm of Oklahoma softball, which has become a dynasty in college softball. The Sooners will have a much different look this season, having to replace five starters in the starting lineup, as well as two starting pitchers, all of whom reached the end of their college eligibility. You won't see any Oklahoma opponent feeling sorry for the Sooners, however, because Gasso has plenty of returning talent and begins the reloading process with another outstanding recruiting class.
Oklahoma will open the season at home with a 13-game homestand that begins on Feb. 20 with games against Abilene Christian and Wichita State at Love's Field. Bowling Green and Tulsa will be competing in the same four-day tournament. The following weekend, the Sooners will host the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Marshall and former Big 12 foe Kansas.
The Sooners' SEC conference schedule begins March 7-9 at home against South Carolina. Oklahoma will also have home dates in Norman against Tennessee, Mississippi State and Texas, and will go on the road for weekend series at Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama and Florida.
Oklahoma will play one game in the coming season with Bedlam rival Oklahoma State. That contest will be on April 9 on a neutral field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City (where the Women's College World Series is held every season). For the complete Oklahoma Sooners 2025 softball schedule, click here.
