The Oklahoma men's basketball team lost another one.
The Sooners were blown out again Tuesday night, this time by No. 2 Florida 85-63 in Gainesville. OU started the game with a 6-3 lead, but after that it was all Gators, who led for 35:25 of the 40 minutes.
At one point, the Gators made a 3-pointer in three straight possessions in the first half to help build a 46-24 halftime lead. Things only got worse in the second half as Florida built a 29-point lead before OU chipped away in the final four minutes to avoid suffering its worst margin of defeat in program history, which has already been set twice this season.
The loss dropped the Sooners to 16-10 overall and 3-10 in SEC play, with OU now second-to-last in conference standings ahead of only South Carolina, which is 0-13 against SEC opponents. LSU is now ahead of OU after beating the Sooners on Saturday.
The Sooners also continued their losing streak to five games with the blowout, surpassing the four-game losing streak they endured earlier this season.
The five-game losing streak is the longest from an OU team since the 2018-19 season. The Sooners lost five in a row to Big 12 foes Baylor, West Virginia, Iowa State, Texas Tech and Baylor again. The difference between that stretch and now is that none of the 2019 defeats were to ranked teams. Four of OU's most recent losses were to teams inside the Associate Press Top 25.
Those 2018-19 Sooners turned things around, though, and finished the season at 20-14 and made the NCAA Tournament. Although still on the bubble, going dancing seems unlikely for this team because of what's ahead.
Florida started the second stretch of the season for OU against five straight ranked opponents. The Sooners will host No. 21 Mississippi State on Saturday.
Another loss to the Bulldogs would give OU its longest losing streak since the 2017-18 season.
