After debuting in the top 25 of both major polls last week, the Oklahoma men's basketball team is now climbing up the rankings.
The Sooners cracked the top 15 of the AP Poll that was released on Monday at No. 13. OU catapulted eight spots in the poll after beating Georgia Tech and Alcorn State last week.
The jump wasn't quite as big in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, but the Sooners still went up four spots to No. 17. They were ranked 21st in both polls last week.
The Sooners are still unbeaten this season at 9-0. OU is one of only eight teams in the country still undefeated to this point, including Florida, Loyola, Tennessee, Utah State, Rhode Island, Drake and UC Irvine. Of the undefeated Power Four programs, OU is ranked the lowest, with Florida and Tennessee inside the top 10 of both major polls.
OU, Florida and Tennessee are only three of nine SEC teams currently ranked in the most recent AP Poll. Five of those SEC teams are in the top 10, including No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Auburn, No. 5 Kentucky, No. 7 Alabama and No. 9 Florida.
Once SEC play begins in January, OU will get all of the curently ranked teams on its conference slate. That includes the SEC opener against Alabama on the road on Jan.4.
The Sooners get a week off between games before a Bedlam matchup against Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Saturday in Oklahoma City. The Cowboys are 6-2 and also won't play again until meeting the Sooners this weekend.
